The Crush Course

Waking up early in the morning is never nice, whatever the circumstances may be, and what is worse than that is being waken up early. But the worst is being waken up early when you don't even need to wake up early. And that was exactly what happened with Hans Basil.

Hans was enjoying his sleep, more so as he had been sleeping little the past few weeks and was maximising the time available to sleep. Sadly for him though, circumstances refused to grant him this one little luxury. First, Sanya Dival, who had rose and shone like the proverbial bird, had difficulty accesssing the college's network. Yes, the fallen queen of Sunway learnt that hard work was needed to ace an exam and not truancy. Unable to solve her conundrum, she called Hans, who was sleeping like a log. If his raspy and hoarse voice wasn't an indication of him sleeping, his clueless state of mind would have been. Seeing "Sunway University College" emblazoned on his mobile did some bit in snapping Hans out of his daze and he soon realised that is was Sanya in need of his help. After the little interruption, Hans went back to bed again, only to be awoken for the second time. But this time, the call left him running to college.

Hans was in danger of being barred from the Finals, as he had discovered the day before, and in just one short night, things had apparently spiralled out of control, with his mother being notified of the incident by the college. As Hans struggled to find the senior lecturer who could seemingly save him from the situation he was in, he spotted Kia Jens, a friend he had made, one who had always threatened to usurp Sanya from her throne. A brief chat ensued and both went their separate ways. Wonder if there was anything going on...probably not. Is it wrong for guys to talk to girls? Well, Hans finally met the lecturer and the entire mess was cleared up. Hopefully.

Nick Ivans sat for his first Final paper, with wonderful distractions cloaking his mind. After a few topsy turvy days for the youngster, things are certainly looking brighter for the 17 year old.The timing of this significant event could not have come at a worse time, with Final exams crashing upon him. For Nick's sake, Hans hopes that all goes well because he knows the former cannot endure another misfortune. But inside, he wonders if Nick's exam results would suffer due to this event blooming. Hopefully all given advice works like the charm it promised to be.

On normal Fridays, the day is wasted partying, clubbing or just plain slacking. And even more if the Friday was a non-school day. So it was surprising to see Sunway University College's library packed with students studying. Well, it may have been surprising, had it not been Final Exam season.
Among the students studying there were Angie Flo and Sanya Dival. Both had agreed to study together in the library to escape the distractions from home, but neither knew that the library would have a very attractive distraction-distractions like Hans Basil. While Sanya had invited Hans for lunch earlier, which he turned down, Angie was with ther other bestie Jaymee struggling to do Mathematics. Hans tossed aside Sanya's lunch offer and instead assisted Angie. Little did he expect Sanya to be back so soon, and her seeing him with Angie would surely rile her up inside. After all, she had always thought the two had something going on. Before anything went on, Hans politely excused himself, cunningly avoiding the ensueing chaos he probably caused. Or maybe, now that Sanya had her eye on someone else, none of it mattered anymore. Or did it still?

Well, exam period always leads to endless hours of mugging and Sue Anne, Jay Dic and John Bow are no exceptions to the effects, as the triumvirate slip into oblivion to cram their heads with whatever they can. And while Hans has been struggling to follow suit, Lady Luck seems to be on a relentless mission to obliterate his life as a late night phone call and a cruel blast from the past looks dead set to do just that.
