The past week in Sunway witnessed a plethora of activities, the good, the bad and the plain sordid, with 'ugly' being too light an adjective. Every town holds its secrets, every road hides an accident and every closet keeps a skeleton. As long as the keys to these dark secrets remain kept safe, the residents continue being delusional, thinking everything is in order, while the holders of the secrets pray that their skeletons do not greet the outside world. But what if there is no more storage space for skeletons and all its apropos? For in the messy scandal and secret filled town of Sunway, heaps of garbage are being dumped day by day. And everyone knows that once the capacity to hold an amount is full, it starts to leak out and overflow.
Nick Ivans, fresh from his return to his hometown, had initiated a surprising 'Ice-Cream Day Out' to the banal yet captivating Sunway Pyramid. Earlier in the day, the shocking cancellation of Economics class left John Bow and Hans Basil with a mind-numbing dilemma, given they were gifted a 5 hour break. John and Dan Wise had visited Pyramid in the morning, while Hans utilized the time to study. After classes ended though, he, along with Nick, Ash, Sue Anne, Angie Flo and Ana hit Pyramid to fulfill Nick's plans. The atmosphere was cheerful and light, made better with Ash's accidental bursting of an innocent balloon. The day culminated terribly though when a normal study session in the foyer ended with a blast. Hans' rejection to accompany Nick for a drink, coupled with him chasing after Diane for something unknown, got under Nick's nerves, and caused a bitter argument between the pair.
And things got worse for the pair, albeit separately. Another leakage made its way to Nick's Palmville unit, this time the shower, and with more devastating ramifications, disrupting his and John's bath routines and laying inconvenience along the way. For Hans, it seems insomnia had fnally caught up with him. Hans had become an insomniac at the turn of the year, accumulating only 3-4 hours of sleep daily. While he had miraculously managed to pull through daily, it seems the miracles ended abruptly one morning. Had he listened to Jac Bizkit, whom he had been getting closer with slowly for the past week, he would not have had the agony of waking up late and missing his Economics class- a first. Hopefully this jolted him from his sleeping slump and fix his poor sleeping habits before it creates more unwanted problems. As if that was not bad enough for him, it seems he had trouble coping with the shock news of Sanya's hook up. And to add insult to injury, dirty laundry of their relationship had been aired around Sunway, the effects of it still to be seen.
Lady GaGa had risen to international superstardom this year after her smash hit "Just Dance", but Sunway University College also nurtured stars of their own, with not one but many lady gagas, with Diane Shine, Sue, Angie and Mitch being the ladies going gaga over different guys. Diane's attached status did not stop her from harmless "drooling" over her guy who recieved mixed reviews from the Outsiders. Angie continued her voyage into the dangerous waters of love, her silent conversation with Javis James amidst the boisterous backdrop of off-tune singing consolidating their blossoming friendship despite Javis' stance that he wanted the girl he had been waiting for all this while. For Sue, her tiresome threesome with Leo Jon, Dan Wise and "Long-Haired Hottie" took a refreshing twist with the appearance of Nick's friend who claimed he had a crush on the Good Girl Gone Terrible. His introduction seemed to have laid the other three guys off Sue's head, with interaction between the pair progressing at breakneck speed. As for Mitch, she was one of the many girls who were furiously salivating at the Silent Killer John Bow, whose taciturn nature with girls and perpetual flying under the radar made him what his nickname suggested- silent. It did not alter his physicalities though, his formal attire sending hordes of girls into the echelons of orgasms. It seems the silent "hotties", John and reigning It Boy Lukas, are the ones to stay atop longer, while those in the spotlight, Hans and Sanya, fall off after a while.
Hans Basil looked completely diferent the past week- gone was the emo face, brooding expression and lethargic attitude, replaced with a fresh happiness, although his friends were sceptical on how long it would actually last, given his susceptibility to changes in environmental occurences. His changed mentality to push problems off his shoulders looks to be working, and even a major embarrassing slip up, which only John had the fortune of witnessing, did not deter his rise from emonomics. Their friendship, which went through the roughest of storms only a month ago, seems to be healing pretty well, with John returning to the place which he bitterly departed from few months ago. John admitted certain mistakes to Hans, but whether the latter bought it remained unclear. What was clear was the amount of personal conversations that were occuring in and around college, from Hans and John, to Nick and Hans, to all three, Hans and Diane, Angie and Hans, Sue and Angie and Theo Oscar and Diane. With all the secrecy and poker faces, it is prudent to keep one's friends close, and your enemies as far away as possible. Only problem was, no one could identify who their enemies were. Such was the state that college had transformed into.
The largest movie outing was in store, with 12 friends heading to Pyramid on Friday to catch the supposedly scariest flick in town. Expectations were high, expecially for Hans and Sue, who had heard news of Sanya's experience. The movie was received with a diverse of reactions, but its scare tactics still worked nontheless. The group departed into smaller subsets, with Nick, John, Sue, Ash and Hans breaking off for dinner. Hans and Ash skipped the meal and had their first ever personal talk about things happening around college and comparing this year with the last. The pair had been closer ever since the infamous "Hans Blast Off" incident. While Ash decided to head back, the remianing 4 headed to AC for a few rounds of pool and the routine after-pool McDonald's dinner. They headed back, as John and Nick called it a day. For Hans and Sue, the night shifted a gear with Ash returning with 2 other friends, before Shayne joined in with one of his. A mini booze party started, lasting into the wee hours of the morning.
This week witnessed few changes, one being Hans sudden behavioural change, the other being John's frequent involvement with Hans and Nick due to two of his hometown friends being at home for the holidays. While the latter looks to be transient, it is the former that is uncertain, if Hans' ability to continue his pursuit of happiness will last long. But sadly, those were the only changes, with the continuance of lies, secrets, sweet faces hiding bitter truths, and of course, stress from studies, dominating the college scene now. Socially, the hometown division had been taken down a notch, although within the All-Sitiawan Rejects, more and more cracks are appearing faster than they can be repaired, creating subsets of outsiders among the outsiders. And it seems it has caused one individual to break down emotionally and get swallowed by the mass problems, which ironcially was Hans' forte.
